As a lifelong pianist, I’ve had the pleasure of playing on countless pianos, from old, clunky spinets to magnificent concert grands by Steinway, Fazioli, and others. Each piano has its unique touch and sound, which is beautiful but can sometimes be frustrating on those less-than-perfect instruments. Have you ever tried to play softly, only to find that some keys don’t respond, or the sound is much louder and harsher than what you wanted? For years, I mistakenly believed that only expensive, new pianos could sound great, while inexpensive old ones were inherently flawed. It wasn't until I began learning to care for pianos professionally that I realized this wasn’t true at all!
